PURPOSE: WHY ARE WE HERE?

Purpose and passion are the same thing. What is your passion? I believe everyone was born with a purpose. The tricky part is figuring out what that purpose is. At some point in your life, you will wonder about the meaning of your life, your mission or your calling.  You may start to question if you are meant to do something “more” with your life or if there is something “greater” than what is going on presently.  It may require a lot of soul searching. The sooner you recognize your higher purpose, the faster you can live your most successful and fulfilling life.

Ask a Parent or Someone Who Knows You Best What Your Purpose Is

Ever since my daughter Brooklyn was young, she has been entertaining. She has an incredible passion for singing, dancing and music. Brooklyn was extremely shy and soft-spoken throughout most of her childhood. Most people would never have imagined that she would have the confidence to go up and sing in public. As her mother, I could see her deepest passion and purpose. I would consciously make efforts to encourage her and to help her overcome her biggest fears in order to fuel this inner driving force.
She spends the majority of her time teaching herself how to play instruments, singing and writing songs. Often, I go into her room and remind her that she needs to go to sleep because she has school the next day and it is getting really late. She waits just long enough for me to go to bed. As I lay in bed, I can hear Brooklyn singing and playing guitar or piano. That kid never stops, and I never stop her. For one, she sound amazing. But most importantly, how can I interfere with someone so passionate about doing what she loves? It is clear what her passion, purpose and drive is in life and I do not want to be the one responsible for getting in the way of that.

Not everyone is blessed with such encouragement. People can be mean. You could have had a parent or someone close to you continually put you down or made you feel that you were not good enough. If you grew up this way, more than likely this would become very damaging to your self-esteem and carry on into adulthood. With each passing day, your passion in life begins to dwindle and you can begin to hide your true self. Many of us were forced to please our parents. Maybe you were not allowed to fully be who you were meant to be. You may have fallen down the wrong path. You may have hit rock bottom and feel as though there couldn’t possibly be a purpose to your life.

There are many reasons why you may not be living your life purpose. You may also be at a point in your life, where you are on autopilot. Your life is so busy. Your world can become extremely overwhelming. You may have people and demands coming at you at all angles. How could you have time to think clearly…let alone, figure out who you truly are and what your purpose in life is? Your life may have fallen off track. But, it is never too late to turn your life around and life it with passion and purpose.

Think Back To When You Were a Child

What did you just love doing? What were you always naturally good at? If you think back to when you were a child, you will discover that your talents and purpose have been with you since as long as you can remember. We often lose sight of this as we get older.

When you are doing what you love and being who you are truly meant to be, it fuels you. It excites you and energizes you to the point where you can do that thing for hours. You lose track of time. This is your calling. This is your purpose. Why hold that back from you and the rest of the world? Your calling will never go away. It will continue to silently nudge at you. If you trust in your God given talent and passion and use it to help people, your life will unfold in unimaginable ways.
