DOES THE PAST KEEP CREEPING IN?

The past can keep creeping in, even if you are consciously trying to move forward and want to forget about it. It is hard to let go of the past because it is all that you have ever known up until this very moment. It can feel familiar to you and somewhat comfortable.

The residual effects of the past can cause anxiety. You may worry that you are going to make the same mistakes and bad choices. When someone/something triggers that emotional response, it can remind you of your “old” way of life. Also, the people you are trying to remove yourself from, have a wonderful way of squirming their way back. They know just the right things to say and do to reel you back in…but they never change, do they? They have this incredible sense that you are moving towards great things and a better life. They are making their last desperate attempts at keeping you stuck. The guilt and manipulation have some sort of hold on you. You can become disappointed when you allow the old garbage from the past back into your life. You may feel as though you are regressing, but this is all part of the process. Hang in there!

STAY STRONG

You can move past any painful thoughts or memories. The toxic people who crave drama, will soon be behind you. Once you get over this hump, it will be smoother sailing.

USE THE PAST TO RECOGNIZE CONTRAST

When you have been used to negative people, you will find the opposite to be refreshing. You would not be able to recognize or value amazing qualities in a good person, if you were not shown the contrast. Embrace people that are positive and add value to your life. You deserve this.

USE THE PAST TO BECOME MORE GRATEFUL

The past will help you to become more grateful. When you are around people who are encouraging, nurturing and loving, you will cherish them more. You will be grateful that you made healthier choices that enhance your life.

EMBRACE POSITIVE CHANGES

It takes time to adjust to your improved life. Do not wreck anything good that enters your life. If you are used to struggle, it can seem “too good to be true”. Do not transfer what someone else has done to you in the past, onto an innocent person. Until proven otherwise, enjoy and welcome all positive things.

The past helps you to learn and grow. This is where you have gained your strength. This is where you have learned your most valuable lessons. You have the power to not allow the past to control you. Allow yourself to let go and adjust to all your new, positive changes. Keep pushing forward…you have made it this far!
