You have the choice to be happy. Your world around you can get busy and overwhelming. You may have people and demands coming at you from all angles. Or your life can become so routine that you may be living your life on auto-pilot. You may think that you are happy, but you never took the time to think about if you really are. Maybe your entire world is falling apart and you feel that there is absolutely nothing to be happy about? Wherever you are in your life, you have the power to be happy.
1. LIVE IN THE MOMENT
If you are thinking about the burdens and regrets from your past, it can hinder you from being happy now. The same is true, if you are anxious or worried about the future. The future has not happened yet and you can be needlessly driving yourself crazy. The present moment is all you have control over.
2. MEDITATE
This continues on the first point of living in the moment. It is important to stop and slow your life down. Sometimes all you need to do is breathe and clear your head. Quite often it is the overwhelming thoughts in your head that is preventing you from being happy.
3. DETACH YOURSELF FROM NEGATIVITY
It is extremely difficult to be happy, when you are surrounded by negative people and situations. You have the choice to detach yourself from them, either physically or mentally. You have the choice to walk away. You do not have to engage in their negativity. Stay positive and keep positive thoughts.
4. DO WHAT YOU LOVE
You are guaranteed to be happy if you choose to spend your free time doing what you love to do. You may love to go to concerts, sporting events, dancing, reading, writing, going for a walk on the beach etc. Make sure you consciously fit these things into your schedule. The more you do these things, the happier you will be. It will also open doors to meeting like-minded people and bring about future opportunities of what makes you happy.
5. SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH HAPPY AND POSITIVE PEOPLE
If you spend your day with positive and happy people, you are going to have a good day. Spend time with your loved ones (including your pet). The more time you spend with these people, the less time you will have for the people that cause drama and stress in your life.
6. STOP BEING A PERFECTIONIST
No one is perfect. You will never be happy, if you are constantly thinking that you and life has to always be perfect. So stop being so hard on yourself, putting yourself down and being overcritical. Trust that life is unfolding in divine order and for your higher good.
7. EXPRESS GRATITUDE
Instead of thinking about all the things the you do not have, be thankful for the things that you do have. Rather than beating yourself up about all the things you did not accomplish, be grateful that you have this moment to turn things around. No matter how bad your life may seem, there is always someone worse off than you. Be thankful for everything in your life. Tell people that you appreciate them. The more gratitude you express, the more blessings you will attract into your life.
Life is much easier if you are happy. Be mindful of your choices in your life. Put yourself in situations with people and things that guarantee you happiness. Your choices in each moment, make up the rest of your life. Choose to be happy.
