Waiting for the “right” moment may never happen. You may find that you could be waiting an awfully long time. You may never truly feel ready. There will always be some sort of obstacle in the way. I am here to tell you that you are ready now! You do not have to be perfect, you need to get started. You can improve things as you go along. The most important thing is that you take that brave, first step. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about going to the gym, following our dreams, starting or ending a relationship, taking steps towards change, or trying something new…the first step is always the hardest. You will already be ahead of most people if you do this one important first step. You will also be heading toward an amazing chapter in your life; a better life.
So stop waiting for your life to happen. These moments can easily turn into years. You do not want to look back at all the time you have wasted. Maybe you already feel like you have wasted enough time and you are desperate for a change. Often when we are waiting around, we take for granted that people and opportunities will always be there for us. Or we think or hope that things will change on their own, eventually. Many of you have already realized how quickly life flies by. If you have children, then you definitely know what I mean!
STOP WAITING. TAKE ACTION.
Any progress towards moving forward is great. You may find that once you get started on something, you may not want to stop. The momentum will keep building.
ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY
Choose a person who will not enable you to make excuses, as an “accountability buddy”. This person will help make sure that you are staying on the right track, pushing you forward and cheering you on. It will be harder for you to slack if you know that someone else is holding you accountable. Thank you Kim Morrison for being my amazing accountability buddy.
SET A DEADLINE
Choosing a deadline is a great when you are tired of waiting around. Even if you do procrastinate, you will sure hustle to make sure you have things done on time. Either way, it gets you and others moving.
MAKE A COMMITMENT
Sign up for something. It can be a gym, a seminar, a course, or to be part of a 30/60 Day Challenge. I find when I sign up for things, it forces me to learn or do something that I feel deep down is important to me. It does not allow me to back out when I get tired or I am no longer feeling like it. I know that it is important to me, so I purposely put myself in situations to challenge myself to grow and improve. I also make sure I schedule lunches and visits with family and friends.
You will feel better if you stop waiting and start doing the things you want to do and love. Take control and start living. No one has the unique skills like you do, so there is no competition. The world is waiting for what only you can offer! Act as though your life depends on it…because it does.
