Having complete control was an extremely stressful way to live my life. I hated the “not knowing”. I hated surprises. I need to be in control of everything. That way things would not go wrong, my life would run more smoothly and I would not get hurt. I knew what to expect and I thought that being in control would ensure a better outcome. I would analyze every situation and person that entered my life. I had to make sense of everything. I had to try and figure out and understand, so that no one would pull a fast one on me. I was not going to play the part of a fool again. Trying to control everything was the only way I thought I could stop this.
The people that tend to do this are the ones whom have been hurt many times in the past. Your guard is up. Your wall is up so high, that no one can break through. Do you hate not knowing the outcome of things? Do you feel you need to make sense of everything? Sometimes the things that happen, do not make sense. Often people do not make sense. Trying to make sense of everything can be exhausting and a waste of time. Sometimes just letting things be and not trying to understand it, is the best way.
You do not need to know the outcome
Many people are afraid to try new things or new relationships. If they think it is not going to work out, then they don’t even try. They need to know how things are going to turn out before they will take a chance. Often this prevents you from the greatest things in life. Enjoy each moment and make the best of it and this future will look bright.
Give up some control and have more fun
When you get used to the idea of letting go of the reins so tightly, it can be fun. You can relax and enjoy whatever someone else has planned. It can be fun trying different and exciting things.
You trust more
You will begin to trust that things often naturally works out. Things may not go as expected, but you will still have a good time. Especially when you are surrounded by positive, loving and supportive people.
Opens up opportunities
Giving up some control, will open up your mind. You will allow others to open up new experiences and new opportunities. This leads to amazing growth and expansion. Life will just keep getting better.
After many years, I realized that not knowing the journey was the best part of life. Things didn’t turn out so badly and life became more enjoyable. Of course there are things in life that is important that you do not leave up to chance. But you cannot go through life trying to be in control of everything. It gets exhausting. Once in a while let others be in the driver’s seat. Who knows, you might just enjoy the ride!
Without a doubt, I am a “Control Freak”! If I don’t have my hand on everything, I feel I’m domed! I know, I am wasting my energy, when it is not required!!!!
Recently, an extremely, loving friend, called me in the morning! She asked me to go for lunch, in a very different place. The atmosphere and talk, totally changed my habits! It truly proves, you can be so fixed on things, that you have lost your vision on the rest of the world!! I strongly recommend that YOU have your best friend, show you another way, without YOUR CONTROL!!! IT’S FUN!!!!!!!!
That’s great Don! Sounds like you are enjoying life more and enjoying the change of scenery! Thank you for your comment and feedback. It is always appreciated.
