KEEP GETTING UP WHEN YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN

Life can knock you down. Especially if you are dealing with an unexpected loss of a relative, breakup, betrayal, difficult co-worker or job loss. There are many unexpected circumstances which can weaken you and make your life extremely challenging. You may shake your head trying to figure out why people are treating you poorly, when you have done nothing wrong. Or why horrible things keep happening? Things may seem unfair. You can only get hurt for so long, before you get knocked down. But no matter how hard life gets, it is imperative that you continue to get up and put the pieces back together.

I felt compelled to write about this topic for two reasons. Primarily, I have spent most of my life being knocked down and picking myself up. These many struggles eventually resulted in a gift of unwavering inner strength. I want to share some of that strength and wisdom with those of you that may need it. I am passionate about this topic and do not tolerate people being treated poorly. Secondly, in 6 days Denton Daley will be fighting for the Cruiserweight World Boxing Title. Boxing is a tough sport, where people physically and verbally get knocked down. It is the ultimate test of physical and mental strength. For those of us who know Denton personally, we have seen how hard he trains and how devoted he is. He deserves to win. Many of us, including myself, will be cheering for him on Saturday, in hopes that he brings the World Title to Canada.

Boxing is a great analogy for life. Whether you box or not, there is no denying that at some point in your life, you will get knocked down. The most important thing is to keep getting back up. Find the strength within you to not let anything or anybody keep you down. The inner strength you will gain from this lesson is invaluable.

WHEN YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN BY LIFE

When life gives you a hard hit, stay strong. This requires a lot of mental strength. Try to keep in mind, that time truly does heal all. Also, life is all about lessons and gifts. Keep faith in the fact that life unfolds in divine order and for your higher good. This is only a snapshot of your life. Even if things do not make sense at the time, they will when the bigger picture of your life becomes clearer.

DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY

Often people treat you poorly because they are not happy with their own lives. It is a reflection of who they are, not you. If you take the time to observe them, you will notice that they treat others, just as poorly as they treat you. It does not make it right, but it does help you to not take things so personally.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET BACK UP ON YOUR OWN

If you are having trouble picking yourself up on your own, there is nothing wrong with getting help. Confide in a trusted friend or family member. If you really got knocked down hard, get some counseling. Do whatever you need to do, but do not stay down. Boxers have many trainers and coaches in their corner, helping them to keep going and lifting them up. Have trusted people in your corner when you need them.

KEEP BEING THE AMAZING PERSON YOU ARE

If people are trying to point out what is wrong with you or trying to knock you down, take it as a compliment. These people find your amazing qualities threatening. Do not stop shining because of other people’s insecurities.

All these difficult people and tough situations are teaching you to become stronger. Embrace this precious gift. Try to detach yourself emotionally, so you are able to see this valuable lesson for what it is. The more you keep getting up, the stronger you will be. The unwavering inner strength you will gain, will make it all worthwhile in the end.
