Compassion is a key element to connect all human beings. By human nature, people just want to be loved, be heard, be understood and feel like they matter. Have you ever had someone take the time to truly listen to you? They made you feel like what you said mattered? Or like they were emotionally connecting to each word you said? The world is becoming more disconnected on the deeper level. It is so much easier to send a quick text, email or message online. People are not taking the time anymore to sit down with someone and deeply connect. Sometimes people get too caught up in who is right and who is wrong. If we took the time to open up our minds and our hearts, we may be surprised at what we hear and learn. This is how we expand and grow. This is how we demonstrate compassion.
Compassion takes time. The problem is, people are so busy. We find the fastest, quickest, easiest way to do something. You have the power to make a difference in someone’s life. All you need to do is take a little extra time out of your day. An hour or two can make the world of difference. When you see and feel the incredible impact you made, you will feel good also.
Visit Someone Special and Practice Compassion
Visit that person that you have been promising to visit, but never have. The person that can’t wait to see you and wants to spend time with you. If you are lucky enough to have a person that has a face that lights up by your mere presence…make plans with that person.
Pick up the Phone and Have a Deep Conversation
Less and less people have home phones anymore. With cell phones, it is much easier to text. You start to forget how nice it is to hear the voice of a friend or person you care about. You can connect better with a person by talking on the phone. You can also feel the emotions that can be misinterpreted by a text.
Mail a Letter or Thank You Card to a Deserving Person
Letters and Thank You Cards are much more fun to receive than a bill or flyer. Show someone you care and that they matter. They will appreciate the time and effort you took on them.
Taking that little extra time to show compassion will enhance your relationships. Your compassion will become contagious. It will bring about more happiness in your life. Connect deeper and live a richer more fulfilling live.
